Issue/Introduction

Agents could not register to the task server.  

Attempting to register on Task Server [Server.example.org] over [https].

Failed to call web interface by url [https://Server.example.org:443/Altiris/ClientTaskServer/Register.aspx?resourceGuid=1c9128f6-85bb-4e03-82e5-59c14d45ca4b&crc=00080001000013E0], error [0x8004200C, IDispatch error #7692].

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Cause

The c:\Program Files directory and subdirectories on the SMP server had been compressed.

In another instance of this issue a separate Task Server had run out of space on the agent install directory.

Resolution

On the SMP server:

  1. Uncompress the C:\Program Files directory and subdirectories.  
  2. Run an IIS reset from the command prompt.
  3. If space is low or out free space, add space to the server then IIS reset
